Published, and Published Again

Hey there sports fans. I didn’t forget about the few readers out there – I’ve just been busy developing the written word in other venues.

Some exciting news for this amateur, slowly turning professional, writer.

I’ve been published thrice!

I landed a gig writing as the “Greenmarket Picks of the Week” for nonabrooklyn. I go to the farmers market (like I do every week anyways), choose a seasonal food, chat with the farmer about the product, how they like to cook it, and then talk to a local chef about how you can cook it in the comfort of your own kitchen.

You can find the one about Baker’s Bounty here:  http://nonabrooklyn.com/greenmarket-pick-irish-soda-bread-from-bakers-bounty/
and the other about Seatuck Fish Co. here:

It will be a biweekly column, sure to pick up as the warm weather kicks in.
I’ll also be writing much longer feature articles where I take the reader on a tour of a day in the life of a farmer. In the “Meet Your Farmer” interviews, you’ll hear from a variety of farmers, growing veggies, tending orchards, raising goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and more.
Exciting times.
But wait, there’s more.
In the spare time, which is still plenty, I’ve been carving out some poetry. My first published poem in a literary journal will be coming out in Mission at Tenth, in their “Double Helix” issue. And more in the cooker. A much longer story is in the works. I don’t dare call it anything but that at this point. But let’s just say that my mission to write more than 240 pages worth of material is met. A combination of lots of back writing, and of course, plenty of futuristic writing.
Be on the lookout for a project that I am dreaming up too. A chapbook that one of my favorite environmental writers Bill McKibben says, “sounds like a great project!”
I’m glowing all over.
